Translate the content of my modules

In K.Air, you can translate all the text content of your module in two ways: automatically, or by exporting/importing a CSV or XLIFF file for translation from external software.

Option I: Translate in 1 click

This is the simplest option, as you simply click on it and then select the chosen language.
The translated module will appear in your list of modules. You can then make corrections directly in K.Air, as if you were building any other project.

Note that you can invite other collaborators to correct this content (creator license and localization), or to leave comments on the preview tab.

Option II: Translate content with external software (CSV or XLIFF)

The Export content option enables you to obtain a file with all the texts in your module, without having to search for them in the various hotspots, crossings, start and end screens, etc.
This means you can deploy your training modules in several languages, choosing the terms you want.

How do I translate my content?

First select the module you wish to translate.



Then click on the 3 small horizontal lines to the left of your module.



The options screen opens, click on content translation.



Then export the contents of the module to be translated by clicking on the first button.



You can then choose between CSV and XLIFF format (specialized translation software).
A zip file is then downloaded. It contains a CSV file and an Excel VBA macro (optional).

- The CSV file : this is your working base. Once imported into Excel, it will enable you to manually and easily edit the translation of your module's written content.
- Our Excel VBA macro “ColorizeCSV.bas ” : this is a magic formula that displays in red all the written content to be translated in your training module. The rest (everything not in red) does not need to be modified or deleted during translation.

Step 1: Open your CSV file in Excel

Go to your downloads and right-click on your CSV file
Drag your cursor over “Open with” and then click on “Microsoft Excel”
An Excel spreadsheet with 3 columns (KEY; ORIGINAL_TEXT; TRANSLATION) opens directly. Expand your columns for better readability. The column we're particularly interested in is the third column.

Step 2 (optional): Add the “Developer” tab to use our magic formula in Excel

- On Mac**:
Click on “Excel” then select “Preferences...”.
Then click on “Ribbon and Toolbar”
In the list on the right, check “Developer” then click on “Save”.

- On Windows**:
Click on “File”, ‘Options’ then “Customize Ribbon”
Under “Customize Ribbon” and “Main Tab” check “Developer”.

Step 3 (optional): Add our magic formula (the VBA macro) to Excel

Click on the “Developer” tab, then on the ‘Macros’ functionality
A pop-up window will open:
Give your macro a name, then click on “+”
A “Microsoft Visual Basic” page should appear:
Close all small pop-ups present on this spreadsheet. (You should only see: a grey screen and the toolbar)
In the top-left toolbar, click on “Project Explorer”
(A menu should appear on the left of your screen. You'll then see a “Modules” folder, containing just 1 module at the moment)
Once this is done, click on “File” then “Import a file”
Select our magic formula “ColorizeCSV.bas” and click on ‘Open’
On the menu on the left of the screen, in the “Modules” folder, a new module should appear:
Double-click on this new module. A file should open. The first line is “Public Sub ColorizeCSV()”.
In the top-left toolbar, click on “Run Sub/UserForm”
Close the page and return to your Excel CSV file.

Step 4: Complete column C "TRANSLATION

Your Excel CSV file has 3 columns (KEY ; ORIGINAL_TEXT ; TRANSLATION)
Please follow these 2 rules to avoid bugs: Rule n°1 : Never touch the “KEY” column, Rule n°2 : Never modify the “ORIGINAL_TEXT ” column.

Select and copy all content under the “ORIGINAL_TEXT” column and paste it under the “TRANSLATION” column
Translate your entire module under the “TRANSLATION” column, modifying only the text content in red (by copying and pasting, you retain the structuring elements of your content that ensure correct formatting, i.e. the HTML tags (e.g. <p>). This formatting is essential to the success of the rest of the translation, so don't touch the HTML tags).



The gray lines correspond to the titles of your inserts. Your learners don't see them when they view your training module. So you don't need to translate this line. Just copy the gray line from the “ORIGINAL_TEXT” column and paste it (on the same line) into the “TRANSLATION” column.
Once you've completed your translation, click on Quick Save to update your CSV file, then close Excel ( the CSV format must be UTF-8).

Step 5: Import your new CSV file into K.Air to translate your entire module

In the “Module” tab on K.Air:
Duplicate your original module to keep a basic version (starting language).



On your original module, slide your mouse over the three horizontal lines on the left of your module, click on “Content translation”, then “Import content”.



A pop-up window opens, click on “Browse”, select your CSV file, select the translation language, then click on “Validate”.



Your module is instantly translated into the language of your choice!



WARNING, it is important to import the translated content into the ORIGINAL module for the operation to run correctly.
